What are registrars?
RNIDS is responsible for managing the central register of .rs domains, while the procedure of a .rs domain registration for end users (registrants) is performed through registrars of .rs domains.
What does a domain registration include?
The procedure of registering an .rs domainn includes:
- domain registration
- modifying data on domain registration
- renewing domain registration
- transferring domains among accredited registrars
- transferring domain registration
- activating data protection for domain contact
- domain termination (deletion)
Basic requirements for registrars
Any organisation interested in becoming a registrar must:
- be a legal entity located in Serbia;
- have technical and administrative capacities for performing services of domain registration in accordance with the Basic requirements for registrars of .rs domains, Technical and administrative requirements for registrars of .rs domains and other specifications published by RNIDS;
- enclose the Contract for performing .rs domain registrations with RNIDS and pay a fee for testing their capacities for performing domain registration services and make the advance payment amounting to the fee for registering at least 200 domain-years within the .rs address space, in accordance with the Price-list of RNIDS;
- successfully carry out the process of testing administrative and technical capacities for performing domain registration services within a 30-day period from the date of signing the Contract for performing .rs domain registrations;
- register, renew or transfer at least 200 domain-years every year during which it performs its duties as the registrar.
Applying procedure
If your organisation fulfills the above listed requirements and wants to become a registrar of .rs domains, you should do as follows:
- Get acquainted with all Rules of RNIDS.
- Complete our Application form for obtaining the status of a registrar of .rs domains (MS Word, 110 Kb).
- Email the completed electronic Application form to kancelarija@rnids.rs and send its printed version via certified mail or courier mail to the post address of RNIDS.
- On the basis of the submitted Application form, the Managing Board of RNIDS will bring a decision on enclosing the Contract for performing .rs domain registrations.
- If RNIDS brings a positive decision on a submitted Application form, the Contract for performing .rs domain registrations will be signed with your organisation. Via certified mail or courier mail, RNIDS will deliver to you the following: the Contract for performing .rs domain registrations, a Request for testing technical and administrative capacities and a quote for paying adequate fees.
- After you have signed the Contract and completed the Application form, on the basis of the received quote, you should pay the fee for testing your capacity for performing .rs domain registrations (currently 10,000 RSD plus VAT), along with the advance payment that equals the remuneration for at least 200 domain-years in the .rs adress space (currently 1,350 RSD per domain-year plus VAT, i.e. the total of at least 270,000 RSD plus VAT), according to the valid Price-list of RNIDS.
- Two copies of the signed Contract and Application form should be emailed to RNIDS, while other two copies should be sent via certified mail or courier mail.
- After RNIDS has received the payment, the signed Contract and Application form, you will be notified on enclosing the Contract. After that and within 30 days, it is neccesary that you successfully pass the testing of administrative and technical capacities for performing domain registration services, in accordance with the Technical and administrative requirements for registrars of .rs domains. If the testing phase is not finished within the defined period of time, the Contract will be terminated without the possibility of refunding the paid fees.
- Following a successfully finished testing, your organisation will acquire the status of a registrar of .rs domains and you can start offering registration services to end users.
RNIDS will ad your organisation and your URL to its List of registrars.
Frequently asked questions
- I want to perform .rs domain registration services but 200 domains annually are too many and/or I do not have required technical resources.
If you want to provide .rs domain registration services for end users, but you anticipate you will not register 200 domains annually and/or you do not have required technical and organisational resources, feel free to contact some of already existing registrars and become their sales agent.
- Can only Internet Service Providers become registrars?
No. Each legal entity located in Serbia can become a registrar if they fulfill required conditions set by RNIDS.
- Can foreign companies become registrars?
No. Only local legal entities can become accredited registrars. If a foreign company wants to become a registrar, that could be done through a branch office registered for operations in Serbia or by signing a contract on business cooperation with some of already existing registrars.
